Why am I doing this FOURTEEN FUCKING YEARS later? idk it sounded fun at the time.

(and here it is, the thing that. i kind of wish i hadn't done. because there's stuff i did after this that, well, i do like. it's kind of a shame that i would have to ignore them if i just cut him off here and said, no, no more of that. but alkjsksjs i really regret this choice to update him, it did NOT help with the motivation issues i was having. oh yes, i'm having trouble with kiryu bc he's lost so many people and he's mellowed out a lot and it's hard to want to throw him out there, better update him to a point where he's even more fucking depressed and unlikely to make friends. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i know why i didn't update him to 55, which would have been the more reasonable choice, but still. akjslsks.
and, to be honest, i think updating him to a point where he would absolutely hate being a Dark Signer could have been really interesting! he and alastair could have bonded over, y'know, being unnerved by their powers and BEING EVEN MORE ALIKE. having to get used to the City again after almost year of home time--particularly when he had found something at home to live for and didn't exactly want to be in the City anymore--could have been interesting. i feel like a lot of characters kind of just. picked right up where they left off even after a big update like that but THAT REALLY IS A SIGNIFICANT PERIOD OF TIME. and also, having to deal with three years of extra memories getting dumped on you again--three years of memories where he's a fucking Dark Signer--also kind of a big deal!
so basically, i see where i was going with this. and i don't think it was the worst choice--or, it wouldn't have been, if I hadn't been so burnt out. but i was absolutely burnt out with Kiryu (and pretty burnt out with C&C in general tbh) at this point, and i just didn't have the spoons to implement any of the interesting stuff properly.
and tbh that interesting stuff is mostly interesting with people who know him, and 2-3 months worth of memories isn't really worth keeping anyway (especially when i still barely did anything during those months sigh). maybe if there had been a power update involved as well...but for some reason, i didn't even consider that. also, i think i like him best as a Dark Signer. which is why i put off updating him for so long in the first place!
like, let's be real here. even though kiryu had mellowed out A LOT by this point, his reaction to finding himself somewhere new (like idk a new game) would be EXTREMELY DIFFERENT between has-never-left-the-City-in-three-years DS Kiryu & updated-to-92-and-doesn't-call-the-City-home-anymore Kiryu. and DS Kiryu would be way more interesting.)

spam post it's cnc2020 time again bitches!!!! kiryu's blurb is always the same (except the very first time) lmao, just sometimes saitou is involved in it. also, this was the first one since i apped Tom so i finally got to write something for him!!! and i love it. i still really love what i came up with for him. for both of them, really. i just genuinely love both these guys' 2020 versions so much.

(anyway, other names kiryu would have had: Death, Delirium, Cavil, Sho, Terrorsaur probably, Blitzwing, Elisa Maza (dead), Optimus, Sentinel, Misty, Megatron, Skyfire, Godzilla (did no one mention him???), Hollow Ichigo, Thundercracker, Blackarachnia, Rua, Aki, Bruno...anyway this is pointless bc obviously we never got to the "name a bunch of random people even without dates" point, but alksjks this list cries.)
(oh interesting, apparently ghost was keeping a list of people who were dead (or "dead", several of these people were still moving around lmao) before coming to the City (like himself apparently) and of course Kiryu is on it. i mean, he made no secret of that lmao but still. that's kind of cool.)

(oh right, since this is a new account with new icons ect ect and also with 100% knowledge of canon...Kiryu finally has his criminal marker in civilian form! this is not a thing he had before ahahahaha no matter what the fanart icons said.
so when i first apped him, we had two & a half episodes of content. his civilian form was his Team Sat appearance, because i had no other options. and guess what, his TS icons don't have a criminal marker, for obvious reasons. so it was a lot easier to just say he didn't have it than to mention it all the fucking time. (also, i didn't know for sure that he would still have it (see: my further thoughts below), or even exactly what it looked like (i mean, it was likely that it was exactly the same as the red one in DS form (it is) but definitely not guaranteed, since we didn't get the actual marking scene until 54/55; heck there was even an idea floating around that there was a special ~red criminal marker for murder~, so it would have been red either way EARLY 5DS FANDOM WAS A SPECIAL TIME LEMME TELL YOU.)) then when it came time to update his appearance, it was way easier to just erase the marker in the CT images, than it would have been to add it into the TS ones.
anyway I DID COME UP WITH A REASON WHY HE DIDN'T HAVE IT other than just lol icons. and that reason is Ccapac Apu. basically, it was way more useful to have a servant who wasn't being tracked by Security all the time, and Kiryu dearly wished for it to be gone anyway. so when Ccapac revived him, He erased it from the "alive" form Kiryu got & basically rewrote it for his "dead" one. voila, in the eyes of Security, Kiryu no longer exists. he can hang out in Old Momentum for two years with no one the wiser.
as to why he has it now, let's assume the Dark Signers were revived as they were when they died. Kiryu would have still had the marker at the moment of death, therefore he still has it now. sucks to be him lol!
anyway, this is my excuse and i'm sticking to it. I HAVE GIVEN THIS SOME THOUGHT BEYOND LOL ICONS OK)
