Kiryu's Powers In-depth

satisfiedsigner 1) His number one most important power is: turning into a Dark Signer. While in his "normal" form, he has absolutely no powers whatsoever; he can only use his powers while in Dark Signer form. While he's a Dark Signer:
-the sclera of his eyes are a very, very dark brownish-red, almost black, and his irises a slightly more golden in color than usual
-he has a red line down the right side of his face (where his criminal marker used to be; despite some icons to the contrary, this mark is only there while in this form)
-usually his clothes are a black and blue uniform; he can, however, chose to switch forms without changing his clothes
-the Dark Signer mark on his right arm glows with ever use of his powers
If he doesn't use any other powers, and consumes the usual amount of food and sleep, he can maintain this form for a week and a half straight. Eating and sleeping more can increase that time to up to three weeks. He needs at least three days to a week in normal form to be a full strength again.
Using his powers considerably shortens the amount of time he can stay in Dark Signer form, although eating can counteract that to some extent. (Also: coca leaves. You'd better believe he brought a bunch back with him.)
Everyone and their mother knows about this power.
2) Making Duel Monsters cards "real":
The YGO-verse, select Ancient Egyptian priests were able to summon forth monsters to do battle, both from stone tablets and their own souls. They weren't able to summon more than a couple at a time, and just summoning them drained much of their own energy. This power is very similar, different from the more common powers Aki and other "psychic duelists" have.
Kiryu can make nearly all monsters and most spell and trap cards' effects physically real. They're actually there and not just illusions, so this power takes a considerable amount of energy. How many cards he can make real at a time is determined by what type of card they are and how powerful they are.
Monsters
- Up to 11 stars total, but no one monster can be higher than level 8 (anything higher is generally extremely difficult to summon and ridiculously powerful; currently, the only card Kiryu has higher than level 8 is Earthbound God Ccapac Apu, which also requires human souls in order to be summoned, so it's a no-no)
- FIRE attribute monsters are easier to summon; he could get away with up to 12-13 stars total
- NORMAL monsters are also easier to summon
- level 5 and higher do NOT require a tribute in order to be summoned; they're more difficult to be summoned instead (so he could summon two level 5 monsters, equaling 10, but nothing after that)
Spells/Traps
- most spells are equal to a 1 star monster
- most traps are equal to a 2 star monster
- Semi-Limited spells/traps are treated as level 3, Limited as level 4, Forbidden as level 5
- Equipment spells create whatever is on the card, e.g. activating Electro-Whip would give Kiryu a nice electrically-charged whip. Some other spells work the same way, like Fire Whip.
- most other spells and traps are WYSIWYGs, such as Fissure
In General
- "Remove-from-play" effects are unable to be used. Those step on Lachesis' toes a little too much.
- Destruction effects and effects dealing with the Graveyard are, in general, either unable to be used or modified to knock a person out. For example, Monster Reborn cannot be used, but Raigeki would simply rain lightning, knocking out whoever got hit.
- any effects that are determined by the state of the game (cards in hand, LP, cards on the field) are treated as if the condition is fulfilled (basically, all of his Infernity cards' effects)
- the total number of levels goes down by 1 for each day he's in Dark Signer form with normal amounts of food and sleep
- for cards dealing with turns: one turn is approximately five minutes (or however long is needed!)
Only a select group of people know about this power. As of right now: Saitou, Alastair, Bakura, Hiruma?,Aki?, Crow, the Decepticons, Shiro, Trowa?, the Nazis? & Mary Marvel. Yuusei could make some darn good guesses.
3) Pyrokineses:
This is just your everyday superhero fire controlling power. It is draining like the card-summoning power, but not nearly as much unless used in large amounts. It's also less draining to control an already existing fire than to start one. Kiryu has the least amount of practice with this power, so it's the least controlled.
Very few people know about this power. As of right now: Saitou, Alastair, Bakura, Hiruma, Trowa?, Terra the boy, Bruno, &Mary Marvel
